We are proud to welcome the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) as the newest organization to join the Sessionboard community.

APIC is the leading professional association for infection preventionists, representing more than 15,000 members dedicated to advancing the science and practice of infection prevention and control. Its flagship gathering, the APIC Annual Conference & Expo, brings together thousands of clinicians, epidemiologists, researchers, and industry leaders each year for the education, science, and connection that shape the field. Delivering a conference of that scale and rigor depends on a programming operation that can manage speakers, abstracts, and sessions without friction.

Rethinking the Conference Programming Workflow

Before selecting Sessionboard, APIC took a careful look at how its conference programming actually came together—and where a more connected approach could reduce cost and complexity.

"Before selecting Sessionboard, we evaluated our overall conference programming workflow with the goal of creating a more streamlined, integrated, and cost-effective process. As our conference continued to evolve, we wanted a solution that could support the full lifecycle of conference content management while reducing the need for multiple modules or systems. We saw an opportunity to streamline our speaker proposal/abstract submission and review processes, centralize speaker management, and improve scheduling in a more cost-effective way. We were looking for a solution that would reduce manual effort and lower operational costs and support a smoother end-to-end conference planning experience."Elreatha Woodard, Director, Annual Conference, APIC

Why the Sessionboard + Cvent Solution Stood Out

APIC ran a formal RFP process to find the right fit. What set Sessionboard apart was its ability to connect session and speaker management with event execution inside a single ecosystem—while integrating with the systems APIC already relies on.

"During the RFP process, the combined Sessionboard + Cvent solution stood out for its ability to seamlessly connect session and speaker management and event execution within a single ecosystem, while also integrating with our current AMS. The integrated workflows, ease of use, and potential to improve efficiency while reducing administrative overhead made it the right fit for our organization's needs."Elreatha Woodard, APIC

Together, Sessionboard and Cvent give APIC one connected path from call for speakers and abstract submission through review, scheduling, and on-site execution—with the association's AMS integrated into the flow rather than living in a separate silo.

What Success Looks Like Once Implemented

For APIC, the goal isn't just a new tool. It's a better experience for speakers and attendees, and a more efficient one for the team behind the scenes.

"Once fully implemented, our top goals are to create a more seamless and engaging experience for our speakers and conference attendees while equipping our conference team with efficient, streamlined tools to manage sessions, communications, and scheduling. We also hope to reduce manual processes, improve collaboration, and deliver a more organized and successful conference experience. Ultimately, Sessionboard aligned with our goals by offering a more economical and centralized approach to managing our conference programming, allowing our team to focus more on delivering a high-quality educational experience and less on coordinating processes across multiple tools."Elreatha Woodard, APIC

Looking Ahead

This partnership reflects a shared belief that great programming should be easier to build. For APIC, it means less time coordinating across disconnected tools and more time delivering the high-quality education its members count on. For Sessionboard, it's another step forward in our mission to help event professionals transform how they collect, evaluate, and manage content—especially for medical and scientific associations that navigate some of the world's most complex programs.

We're proud to support APIC and its conference programming team, and we look forward to the sessions and science that will come to life through this work.
