Sessionboard vs Cvent.
This comparison is the speaker and content layer only. Cvent is expanding speaker and content modules for complex events; Sessionboard starts from the session record rather than the attendee record, with committees, speaker readiness, transcription and sharing on it. Registration stays on Cvent, and the two sync.
SIDE BY SIDE
Where each one does its work.
Read from the approved comparison, not from a feature checklist. Where we could not verify a Cvent content management capability from their own material, the cell says so.
| Capability | Sessionboard | Cvent content management |
|---|---|---|
| Registration and event website | Stays where it is. Accepted sessions and speakers sync to Cvent, Swoogo, Bizzabo and others. | Cvent registration, ticketing and event website stay in place. |
| Call for papers and abstracts | Submission forms with logic per track and format; abstracts, disclosures and files on one submission. Returning speakers arrive with their history. | Speaker and content modules for complex events; abstract collection varies by package. |
| Review rounds and committees | Review plans with rounds, committees, rubrics and conflict-of-interest rules. Your team changes forms and review steps without a services ticket. | varies |
| Speaker materials and portal | Branded speaker portal with task lists, agreements and e-sign; the Coordinator agent reminds whoever is late. | Speaker module with lists and exports. |
| Agenda and attendee program | Agenda builder with speaker and room conflict detection; program site, embeds and the Attend app update as it changes. | Agenda published through the Cvent event website and attendee journeys. |
| Transcription and media library | Live Transcribe in the room or from Zoom, ON24 and Goldcast; transcripts, captions, clips and quote cards in a library searchable across events. | varies |
| Peer sharing with attribution | Share kits with tracked links for speakers, sponsors and attendees; registrations traced back to the share. | Share bar and organizer social tools; reports clicks. |
| Event marketing | Dispatch packages content per audience and sends through email, Slack and your CRM. | Campaigns, websites and attendee journeys from the registration platform. |
| Integration between the two | Sessionboard + Cvent sync for sessions and speakers; a Sync Doctor view shows every sync’s state. | Cvent integration available to Sessionboard customers. |
Cvent is also a partner: many customers run the two together. This is not a suite replacement.
WHERE IT DIFFERS · THE DATA MODEL
Sessions first. Attendees arrive later.
A program team’s work starts months before a registration exists: abstracts, reviewers, rubrics, speaker tasks. Sessionboard holds that on a session record, then hands the accepted program to Cvent for registration and the website. Nothing is re-keyed in either direction.

WHERE IT DIFFERS · SHARES YOU CAN TRACE
A share bar counts clicks. A share kit brings registrations.
Every speaker, sponsor and attendee gets their own kit: their session, their clip, their quote, their link. Shares and clicks come back to the record, and registrations traced to a share show up in the report beside the session that earned them.

Questions, answered
How do we start if the program team already works beside Cvent?
Run one event’s call for papers and review on Sessionboard, keep registration on Cvent, and turn on the sync so accepted sessions and speakers flow across at publish.
Do we have to replace Cvent?
No. Registration, ticketing and the event website stay on Cvent; Sessionboard owns the program layer and the content it produces.
Can we export what Sessionboard holds?
Yes. Submissions, scores, speakers, agenda, transcripts and media export by CSV, the public API and webhooks, and the Cvent sync carries sessions and speakers across.
