Sessionboard + Microsoft Teams Webinars

Microsoft Teams Webinars runs the live hour. Sessionboard runs everything around it: the topic and the speakers from your own contacts, publishing and sync, registration on your page, attendance and engagement on each person's record, and the recording turned into chapters, clips, posts and a recap for every registrant.

QUICK ANSWER

Sessionboard connects to Microsoft Teams Webinars with your Microsoft 365 sign-in, through Microsoft Graph. You plan the webinar in Sessionboard, publish it to Microsoft Teams and take registrations on your own page; after it ends Sessionboard reads attendance with join and leave times, and reactions and raised hands per attendee, brings the recording into Media for chapters, clips and a social pack, and sends every attendee and no-show their own recap.

WHO OWNS WHAT

What Sessionboard delivers natively

Keep Microsoft Teams mid-contract when you need to — Sessionboard owns call for papers, speaker operations, and content marketing on the program graph.

Microsoft Teams — still owns

  • Live webinar delivery

Teams webinars and town halls inside Microsoft 365.

  • Registration and live engagement

Microsoft 365 as system of record for sign-ups and the live attendee experience.

  • Typical buyer profile

Enterprise and association teams standardised on Microsoft 365.

Sessionboard — built in

  • Plan board and recommendations

Webinar ideas by funnel stage and format from your topics, surveys and past webinars; speakers, related content and sponsors to approach for any topic.

  • Publish, registration and sync

Draft here and publish to Microsoft Teams; registrants sign up on your page and land on the same contact record as everything else they do with you.

  • Attendance, engagement and Pathways

Who came, for how long, and what they did, per person, tagged with topics and fed into Pathways.

  • Recording, clips, recaps and sharing

The recording in Media with chapters and suggested clips, a social pack, a recap per attendee and no-show, a Dispatch share kit for your team and Advocacy links for speakers and attendees.

SOUND LIKE YOUR TEAM?

Sound like your team?

Match your role to the job Sessionboard solves — program ops, content reuse, or marketing attribution.

Webinar and demand-gen lead

The week after a webinar is spent exporting registrants, chasing the recording and writing posts. The After tab does that production work and leaves you the review.

Content marketing

Recordings sit in Microsoft Teams after the live date. In Sessionboard they land in the Media library with a transcript, chapters and suggested clips, next to every conference session.

Membership or community lead

Attendees and no-shows get the same thank-you email. Sessionboard sends each person a recap built from what they said they wanted and what they did.

Program and speaker owner

Picking speakers starts from a blank sheet. Recommendations list the people who already spoke on the topic at your events, and the sponsors who backed it.

HOW THE DATA FLOWS

How the data flows

Program and session data live in Sessionboard — with optional sync to and from Microsoft Teams.

  1. Connect Microsoft Teams Webinars once in Apps with your Microsoft 365 sign-in, through Microsoft Graph, and import the upcoming and past webinars you already have.
  2. Draft a webinar in Sessionboard and publish it; Sessionboard creates it in Microsoft Teams and adds your speakers as panelists.
  3. Registrants sign up on your page; Sessionboard registers them in Microsoft Teams and keeps both sides in sync every 15 minutes. A change to the title, start time or duration in Microsoft Teams waits for you to choose which version wins.
  4. After the webinar, Sessionboard reads attendance with join and leave times, and reactions and raised hands per attendee. Microsoft Graph does not report Q&A, polls, chat, CTA clicks or ratings, and Teams sets Q&A, practice sessions, registrant approval and auto-recording itself.
  5. The recording comes into the Media library for a transcript, chapters, suggested clips and a social pack, and every registrant gets a recap.

Native connector: Microsoft Teams connects as a Sessionboard app with the next product release: import, publish and sync, attendance and engagement, and the recording into Media. Teams emails each registrant their personal join link, and apps cannot read the Teams registration list, so registration on your Sessionboard page gives the most complete record.

COEXISTENCE

When both make sense

Sessionboard already includes transcription, attendee experiences, and content marketing. Keep Microsoft Teams when you still need a specific piece of their product.

Keep Microsoft Teams when

  • Your team already runs live webinars in Microsoft Teams and likes the attendee experience
  • Registration, the stream and the replay page stay in Microsoft Teams
  • You want Microsoft Teams's engagement on each person's Sessionboard record, next to their conference history

Sessionboard is enough when

  • You run a webinar series, not one-off broadcasts, and the follow-up is the bottleneck
  • Webinar speakers and conference speakers should share one record
  • Each attendee should get a follow-up built for them, not a generic thank-you

Questions, answered

Does Sessionboard replace Microsoft Teams Webinars?

No. Microsoft Teams still runs the live webinar. Sessionboard plans it, publishes it to Microsoft Teams, keeps registrants in sync and does the follow-up from the recording and the attendance.

How does Microsoft Teams Webinars connect to Sessionboard?

Connect it once in Apps with your Microsoft 365 sign-in, through Microsoft Graph. Then import the webinars you already have from Program, Webinars, or draft a new one and publish it to Microsoft Teams.

What does Sessionboard read from Microsoft Teams after the webinar?

Attendance with join and leave times, and reactions and raised hands per attendee. Microsoft Graph does not report Q&A, polls, chat, CTA clicks or ratings, and Teams sets Q&A, practice sessions, registrant approval and auto-recording itself.

What happens to the recording?

It comes into the Media library linked to the webinar, is transcribed, split into chapters, and the best moments are suggested as clips. Sessionboard writes LinkedIn, X and Instagram posts and a newsletter paragraph from it, and uses the clips in each person's recap.

Do attendees and no-shows get different follow-up?

Yes. Attendees get up to three clips, starting with the moment they asked a question or answered a poll; no-shows get the recording plus the clips closest to their interests. You preview and send them, or export a CSV for your marketing tool.
