Brian first began his event technology journey with our sister company, Lennd. Coming from the world of music festivals and sports events, he's embraced the challenge head-on as a Sessionboard Account Executive with an eye for new opportunities. Adventurous at heart, Brian applies his zest for life and natural hunting abilities (as you'll see evidenced below) to the job. With youth, energy, and curiosity on his side, his approach to the role here at SB is fresh and original.

Let's take a moment and get to know Mr. Tustin a little better, shall we?

What’s your origin story in the live events/conference world, where did it all begin? Most recent experience up until joining Sessionboard…

I’m actually quite new to working in the events industry, however I’ve been attending and participating in them my entire life. Whether it’s sports, festival, or education and association conferences – the events space is one I’m not foreign to from an attendee perspective.

Career highlight/ favorite moment that sticks out in your memory? Favorite live event moment in general?

This memory is one that makes me chuckle every time I think about it. I was attending my very first conference and I happened to be by myself. It was morning on the first official day in a massive hotel. I went looking for the breakfast room and unknowingly found myself at the organizer staff breakfast hall, but there was food so I figured I was in the right spot (there were no signs btw). There was one other person sitting at a table in the hall so naturally I joined them. They didn’t know who I was and I had no idea who they were and we ate breakfast and chatted for ten minutes. Forty-five minutes after that breakfast he got up on stage at the Keynote address and introduced himself as the President and CEO of the large hosting organization. Ha! At that moment I realized I ate breakfast at the wrong spot, but maybe it was meant to be.

The future of events, short term and long term, what do they look like? Biggest trends? Opportunities?

After a total shake up of the events industry over the last couple years, I see the conference world coming back stronger than ever with more intentionality on how we are going to connect with each other, be present, and bring value to the relationships. The experience that event organizers are creating is only going to be elevated and how that includes Speakers and Exhibitors is part of that experience. In my opinion, that’s where Sessionboard brings a lot of value. The experience that Speakers and Exhibitors will have using Sessionboard is one that will result in a higher speaker retention due to the ease of use, task management and efficient communication of managing sessions and content.

I think trend-wise, we’re going to see more and more experiences molded into events. Opportunity to consume education, network, but also create memories and stand out is going to be crucial to a successful and engaging event.

Why Sessionboard? What do you see in the company and what excites you about the future?

I think there’s a lot of companies that are do-it-all-for-you-dolly type platforms, but what I love about Sessionboard is that we hyper focus on the niche of speaker & content management. Because of that, we’re able to provide a really great experience and focus on being the best in this niche.

‍Outside of work, what makes you tick? Hobbies, interests, family etc.

Creating memories that involve my core priorities in life are what makes me tick. Being present for my wife and two daughters and creating memories enjoying the life we live while mixing in my favorite hobbies… surfing, spearfishing, and hunting.
